Fused Glass Artist

About the Artist

I'm a native Oregonian and have lived most of my life in this beautiful state with my husband Kit. My passion for glass started at an early age, collecting bottles, sea glass, and eventually beautiful blown glass vases and fishing floats.

Ten years ago I never dreamed I would be making and selling fused glass art. I was diagnosed in June of 2000 with breast cancer. Thanks to some great doctors, family and friends, I'm still here and able to pursue my passion for cats and glass. I hope to encourage other cancer survivors (and those currently battling cancer) and their families by sharing my story.  I also donate artwork to the Race for the Cure and attend events when possible.

While living in Spokane, Washington I began working with stained glass. I've always been fascinated with the colors and "life" of glass of all kinds. When we moved back to Oregon , I got preoccupied with our little farm in the hills outside of Eugene. I started buying gifts from a talented local artist, Mary Hornig. While finishing up chemotherapy and starting radiation, I was tired and depressed. Mary suggested I take some fused glass classes at her studio and things immediately got better. She is an excellent teacher and friend and you can contact her at: www.maryhornig.com.

I’ve taken some wonderful hot glass classes at the Eugene Glass School.  In September of 2005 I started teaching a Fusing Fun class there on Thursday nights.  Their website is: www.eugeneglassschool.org.

In 2004 I was president of the Eugene chapter of the Oregon Glass Guild.  Some of my most successful shows have been sponsored by the Guild in the Oregon Convention Center in Portland.  Please visit their website at: www.oregonglassguild.org.

My personal favorite pieces I make are the cat nightlights and large cat face wall art.  I have done commissions for nightlights, tiles for backsplashes, and more recently yard art.

You may visit my farm here and see the inspiration for some of my work.

Thank you for visiting my website and be well!
